Overview

Morrowind Enhanced(MWE) is an external utility used by a growing number of mods to do things that would normally be impossible using normal Morrowind scripting. Morrowind Enhanced itself is not a mod, but is a required component of others. Morrowind Enhanced.exe must be run concurrently with Morrowind. The latest version of MWE and a number of MWE-enhanced mods can be downloaded at http://www.freewebs.com/aerelorn/.

Note: Requires Tribunal or Bloodmoon

Installation

  1. Unzip the mod into your /Morrowind/ directory
  2. The Morrowind Enhanced.exe and Morrowind Enhanced.dll files will end up in /Morrowind/, the MWE_Base.esp file will end up in /Morrowind/Data Files/
  3. Download and install mods that require Morrowind Enhanced.
  4. Run Morrowind Enhanced.exe.
  5. It is possible to launch or auto-launch Morrowind from Morrowind Enhanced, so if you use mods that require MWE it might be a good idea to replace your shortcut to Morrowind with a shortcut to Morrowind Enhanced.exe.
  6. You can also launch or set an option to auto-launch the Fps Optimizer on startup if you use it.
  7. Run Morrowind and select MWE_Base.esp in the Data Files menu

TC Compatibility

If you'd like to use a MWE-powered mod with a total conversion, you must do the following:

  1. Copy the MWE_Base.esp file from the TC Compatible Esp folder of the install zip into your /Data Files/ folder, overwriting the regular esp.
  2. See the individual manual for the MWE-powered mod for details on installing its TC compatibility.

Troubleshooting

  1. Problem: My journal, inventory, and/or dialogue menus are scrolling by themselves.

Solution: Instead of running Morrowind Enhanced.exe before you start Morrowind, instead start Morrowind, wait until you get to the title screen, then alt-tab and start Morrowind Enhanced. When you go back into the game and load your save, the problem should not occur again.
This problem only occurs on a few users' machines and I've been unable to duplicate it myself, so this is the only known fix.
  1. Problem: A messagebox tells me that my Morrowind Version is not supported.

Solution: Only Morrowind versions 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6 are supported. You must have either Tribunal or Bloodmoon.
  1. Problem: When I enter the game, I get a messagebox telling me that there was an error in the script and it will stop.

Solution: You must run Morrowind Enhanced.exe before you run Morrowind itself.
