- Shadow, The
- One of the 13 major constellation birthsigns. Those born under the Shadow can make themselves invisible.
- Shehai
- Formerly known as the Shehai Shen She Ru, or the Way of the Spirit Sword, the Shehai is an
ancient form of magical combat practiced by the Redguards. Unfortunately, no known use of this
has been seen for several thousand years and it's knowledge is considered lost. The Shehai was
almost exclusively taught by The Halls of Virtue of War society.
Hunding belonged to the sword-singers. This element of empire society grew from the desert artisans and was initially
recruited from the young sons and daughters of the high families. They built the first temple to the unknown gods of
War and build a training hall "The Hall of the Virtues of War". Within a few generations the way of the sword - the
song of the blade - had become their life. The people of the blade kept their poetry and artisanship in building
beautiful swords woven with magic and powers from the unknown gods. The greatest among them became known as Ansei
or Saints of the Sword. Each of these began their own training schools teaching their individual way of the sword.
Those Ansei of the highest virtue wandered the country side engaging in battle, righting wrongs, and seeking to end the strife.
...
All sword singers learn through their intense training and devotion to the gods of war and way of the sword, the forms
of discipline that allow the creation of the spirit sword. This is a simple form of magic or mind mastery where by a
image of a sword is formed from pure thought. The sword singer forms the sword by concentrating, and it takes shape
in his hand - usually a pale thing of light, misty and insubstantial, a thing of beauty perhaps, a symbol of
devotion to the Way and the gods, but no weapon. However, those Ansei of the highest level and sensitivity and those
with talent in magic, can at times of stress, form a spirit sword, the Shehai which is far more than light and air - it is
an unstoppable weapon of great might, a weapon which can never be taken from the owner without also taking his mind.
Excerpts from Redguards, Their History and Their Heroes by Destri Melarg.
From the emperors of Redguard starting with Mansel Sesnit in 1E 609 through Randel Torn and Hirra in , the sword singers were
gradually persecuted which culminated at the battle of Hattu where over 300,00 total were killed, with the sword
singers, lead by Hunding, were victorious. The singers fled the land and people who had rejected the, and
vowed to learn new ways as they traveled across the great ocean to their new land. To adopt a new name, but
to honor the past. In honor of their final battle, they named their new land Hammerfell and adopted the name Redguards.

- Somnalius Fern
- The Somnalius Fern can be found in the swamps of Black Marsh. The fronds from this
plant are light green and quite delicate. Picking a frond can be very difficult, but once retrieved it can be used to put
an enemy to sleep for a short while by passing it under his nose. ( From the Special Flora of Tamriel by Hardin )
- Sorcerer
- Sorcerers are very much like mages although they hold the potential to become many
times more powerful. Unlike any other class they are trained to absorb spells targeted
at them, using the spell points to cast spells back at their opponents. Indeed, this
is the only way a sorcerer can gain spell points since their training leaves them
incapable of regenerating them naturally. In addition, they are also capable of holding
a much larger reserve of spell points than any other class, allowing them to cast some
extremely potent spells. Like all magic users, sorcerers must have a high intellience

- Spellsword
- Spellswords, unlike the other magic-based classes, are just as capable at combat
as they are at casting spells. Indeed, they are often called a fighter-mage, much
to their dislike. Unfortunately, thiis is a difficult profession to be in since it
not only requires the high intelligence and willpower of spellcasting, but the strength
and endurance for fighting. In addition, the combined long hours of studying books
and practicing melee defense/offense dissuade many from attempting it.

can do with melee weapons such as swords and axes. Strength governs the skills of Armorer, Blunt Weapon, Axe, Long Blade
and Acrobatics (MW Manual).
